Tour Price:  $3275 per person *(plus tax and fuel surcharge)

Price of tour includes:

Round trip airfare from San Diego, full breakfast and dinner daily, lunch in Petra, St. Peters Fish in Galilee, and Druz Village, farewell dinner, 10 full days of sightseeing, one free day in Jerusalem, all entrance fees on itinerary, airport transfer upon arrival and departure, porters at hotels, tips to driver, guide and hotel staff, deluxe motor coach, English speaking licensed guide in Israel and Jordan, 12 nights first class hotel, visa and border tax and current rate, tour price is cash/check discount rate.

Not included:
Charges for passport, single room, bottle water or beverages, lunches(not mentioned in itinerary), single room, travel or cancellation insurance, personal items or room service, use of credit cards for tour payments, airline tax and fuel surcharge.

*Airline Taxes and Fuel Surcharge is not included in the tour price.
The current rate is $500. This fee is set by the airline and Madison Tours has no control nor receives advance notice of changes. Due to fluctuating oil prices, the fee may change. The airline will only guarantee the fee  about six weeks before departure. If the airlines impose an increase, the difference will be collected before departure.

Itinerary:

Day 1, Thur, Mar 8—Depart San Diego on Continental #1606 at 9:25 a.m., change planes in Houston to Lufthansa #441 for your flight to Tel Aviv via Frankfurt.

Day 2, Fri, Mar 9—Arrive in Tel Aviv in the afternoon where we will be met by our representative and transfer to the Blue Bay Hotel Netanya. After a delicious buffet dinner you can enjoy a walk along the Mediterranean Sea.

Day 3, Sat, Mar 10—Our Israel Tour begins at Caesarea Maritima.  We will see an ancient Roman Amphitheater, remains from Herod’s Palace and a Hippodrome. We will visit Mt. Carmel, where Elijah challenged the prophets of Baal. We continue to Megiddo and see the site of 26 superimposed cities, the remains from Solomon’s days, and view the Plains of Jezreel where the final Armageddon will be fought. We will drive to Nazareth, the boyhood home of Jesus and continue to Maagan Kibbutz hotel on the Sea of Galilee.

Day 4, Sun, Mar 11—We start today with a special time of worship as we sail across the Sea of Galilee in a replica boat of 2,000 years. We visit the ancient boat discovered by two fishermen in 1986. Next we travel to Capernaum, the center of Jesus activities in the Galilee. We will walk on the Mount of Beatitudes, the traditional site of the Sermon on the Mount, and then visit Tabgah where Jesus fed 5,000 on the shores of the Galilee. We end the day with an opportunity to be baptized in the Jordan River.

Day 5, Mon, Mar 12—Today we explore the northern part of Israel.  We drive to Banias, one of the headwaters of the Jordan River and site of ancient Caesarea Philippi. Then, walking through the beautiful nature reserve of Tel Dan we will see the discovery of Jeroboam’s Altar and ancient Canaanite mud gate. We stop for lunch in a Druz Village, then continue to visit Tel Hazor that was known in Joshua’s day as the head of all the kingdoms. Enjoy kayaking down the Jordan River and the drive to the Golan Heights to look into Syria and see remains from the Six Day War on Mt. Bental.

Day 6, Tues, Mar 13—Leaving the Galilee area, we drive down the Jordan Valley to explore the latest excavations at Beit Shean, Israel’s largest excavation. We will drive by Mt. Gilboa and visit the natural springs where Gideon brought ten thousand to be tested.  Continue down the Jordan Valley, driving by Jericho and the Mount of Temptations, and enter Jerusalem. We stop at the Mt. of Olives where we will hear an explanation of the city, then walk down the Palm Sunday road to the Garden of Gethsemane. At Mt. Zion, we visit Caiaphas’ House where Jesus was held before trial. We arrive at our hotel, Christ Church, inside the walls of the Old City.

Day 7, Wed, Mar 14—This morning we visit the Old City of Jerusalem. We begin at the Temple Mount and then see the Pools of Bethesda, where Jesus healed the lame man. We will walk through the Old City following the Via Dolorosa, walk through the Old Arab markets, Jewish Quarters, see the ancient Roman Cardo, and visit the remains from Nehimiah’s wall. Next visit the Western Wall for a personal time of reflection and prayer, and walk through Jerusalem. Next we explore the Southern Steps of the Temple Mount. This evening, we will return to the Old City to walk on top of the Old City Walls.

Day 8, Thur, Mar 15—We being today at the new excavations of the City of David revealing some of the most exciting archeological finds. Our tour of the City of David takes us through Hezikiah’s tunnel and ends at the recently discovered Pools of Siloam. Then we travel to Bethlehem to see the Church of the Nativity, the traditional site of the birth of Jesus, and the Shepherds fields where the birth of Jesus was announced. See the new discoveries at Herodium, a fortress built by Herod the Great. We then visit the Israel Museum to see the Holy Land Model and the Dead Sea Scrolls found at Qumran.

Day 9, Fri, Mar 16—Today is a free day to explore on your own.

Day 10, Sat, Mar 17— We will end our time in Jerusalem at one of the sites believed to be the burial site of Jesus, the Garden Tomb. Traveling to the lowest place on earth, the Dead Sea, we will visit Qumran, the ancient city of the Essenes and site of the Dead Sea Scrolls discovery. We stop an Ein Gedi to see the waterfalls where David hid from Saul. Then to Masada where we will ascend by cable car to tour the famous archaeological site, an ancient fortress, where Jewish Zealots made their last stand against Rome in 73 CE. Our hotel will be at the Dead Sea, the Leonardo Hotel, for an evening of relaxation, take advantage of the Spa facilities and to “float” in the therapeutic Dead Sea water.

Day 11, Sun, Mar 18—A morning of leisure before we visit Kfar Hanokidim to enjoy Bedouin Hospitality. Enjoy the desert scenery and atmosphere as you see a traditional coffee making ceremony. Ride a camel, in this unique setting while taking in the beautiful desert vista. We continue through the Negev to see a replica of the Exodus Tabernacle Tent in Timna Park. Cross the border into Jordan and continue to Kings Way Petra for overnight.

Day 12, Mon, Mar 19—Today we explore the Red Rose City, Petra. Experience a world wonder in this unique Nabatean city, hidden in the rugged mountains and carved entirely into the naturally red rocks and includes temples, theaters, monasteries, houses and roads. Lunch is included. Return to your Petra hotel.

Day 13, Tues, Mar 20—We travel north to Amman along the King’s Highway. We visit Madaba to see a 6th century mosaic map of the Holy Lands. Next we stop at Mt. Nebo where Moses viewed the Promise Land. Continue to Bethany Beyond the Jordan, the site believed to be where John the Baptist lived and baptized Jesus. Arrive at Amman International hotel and prepare for our flight.

Day 14, Wed, Mar 21—Transfer to the airport for a very early departure on Lufthansa #693 and arrive in San Diego on United #395 at 5:37 p.m. with a lifetime of memories.

Flight schedules can be changed by the airline. Itinerary sequence can be changed at the discretion of your guide and leaders.
