Itinerary
Day 1, Tues, June 1 — Depart Los Angeles on El Al Airlines flight #6 at 1:45 p.m. for our non-stop flight to Israel.
Day 2, Wed, June 2 — Upon arrival in Tel Aviv, we meet our guide and begin our tour in Joppa, one of the oldest cities in the world and where the prophet Jonah set sail for Tar Shish. We will travel north to the Blue Bay Hotel in Netanya. After dinner, enjoy walking along the Mediterranean Sea or a refreshing swim.
Day 3, Thurs, June 3 — Begin our day, at Caesarea Maritima. Among the magnificent array of archeological finds you will see well-preserved aqueduct, hippodrome and amphitheater. We then visit Mt. Carmel, where Elijah held the triumphal contest with 450 prophets of Baal. Continue to Megiddo to see 26 superimposed cities, the remains from Solomon's day and view the Plains of Jezreel where the final Armageddon will be fought. Next stop is Nazareth to visit a 2000 year old replica village. We will then arrive at the Ginosar Kibbutz Hotel where we will stay while in Galilee.
Day 4, Fri, June 4 — Today we visit sites around the Sea of Galilee. We will enjoy a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee and visit the ancient “Jesus” boat discovered in 1986. We visit Beit Saida, birthplace of three of the disciples and where Jesus performed many miracles. We will also visit Korazin. Then to Capernaum to see the ancient synagogue where Jesus taught and the Apostle Peter’s home. We drive up to the Golan Height, a major scene of the Six Day War, to view the area from Mt. Bental and to see a military outpost. We drive to Banias Spring, the site of Caesarea Philippi, where Peter confessed Christ’s Divinity. At Yardenit we end our day with the opportunity to be baptized in the Jordan River.
Day 5, Sat, June 5 — Leaving the Galilee area, we drive down the Jordan Valley to explore the latest excavations at Beit Shean, the largest archeological site in the land. Drive by Mt Gilboa, site of Saul's death and visit the natural springs where Gideon brought ten thousand to be tested. Continue down the Jordon Valley, driving by Jericho and the Mount of Temptation, we arrive at the lowest spot on earth, the Dead Sea. We will visit Qumran, site of the Dead Sea Scrolls discovery. We then drive to the Crown Plaza Hotel for dinner and overnight. Enjoy free time with options to “float” in the Dead Sea, relax, enjoy the mineral pools or spa facilities.
Day 6, Sun, June 6 — This morning we visit Masada and tour the famous archaeological site where Jewish Zealots made their last stand against Rome in 73 C.E. We will hike to the falls at Ein Gedi where David hid from Saul. Then we will be on our way to Jerusalem. Entering Jerusalem, we stop at Mt. Scopus, for a magnificent view of Jerusalem. We drive to the Olive Tree hotel, where we will stay for the rest of our tour.
Day 7, Mon, June 7 — We begin today on the Mount of Olives where we hear an excellent explanation as we view the Old City then walk down the Palm Sunday road to the Garden of Gethsemane. We drive to Mt. Zion and visit Caiaphas' house where it is believe that Jesus was held before trial. Visit the Upper Room, then walk by King David's Tomb. We visit the Church of the Sepulcher and end our day seeing the new excavations at the City of David.
Day 8, Tues, June 8 — We start today at Ben Yehuda street market, then at the Israel Museum, see the Dead Sea Scrolls and a unique Holy Land Model, a miniature replica of Jerusalem during the time of Christ. We will walk through the biblical gardens of Yad Hashmona, a Messianic Kibbutz, to see replicas of tools, a threshing floor, wine press and meeting places of ancient Israel with time for a optional lunch. We end the day at Yad Vashem the Holocaust Museum.
Day 9, Wed, June 9 —We begin our day in the Old City of Jerusalem. We visit the Davidson Center to see a virtual tour of the Temple and explore the southern steps of the Temple during the time of Christ. We visit the Western Wall for a time of reflection and prayer, before walking through the Western Wall Tunnel to see underground excavations of ancient Jerusalem. We will walk the Old Arab markets, Jewish Quarters, see the ancient Roman Cardo, the remains of Nehemiah’s Wall and the Pools of Bethesda. We will visit the Temple Institute to see tools being made for the future Temple. At the Garden Tomb, we will take time for communion and worship. We say good-bye to Israel, enjoy a lovely farewell dinner, then transfer to the airport for our late night departure.
Day 10, Thurs, June 10 — Depart on El Al #5 at 1:10 a.m., arriving at LAX at 6:40 a.m. with a lifetime of memories of our Journey to Israel.
